FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

>LIVE-FIRE TRAINING QUESTIONS

>DIGITAL FIRE TRAINING QUESTIONS

How durable are the systems?

BullEx worked extensively with aerospace engineers and suppliers to develop a strong and rugged, yet lightweight design. BullEx has leveraged these aerospace engineering techniques in the design of the Intelligent Training System's sheet metal to ensure both durability and usability, instead of heavy and costly over-gauge sheet-metal.

How much do the systems weigh?

Our I.T.S. and I.T.S. Xtreme live-fire systems and BullsEye and HotShot digital fire systems are all light and portable, weighing less than 40 lbs. The systems can be carried using built-in handles or transported in a wheeled carrying case.

How does the SmartExtinguisher training extinguisher work?

When the compressed air and water are discharged, a directional signal is also transmitted from the tip of the SmartExtinguisher's hose and is picked up by sensors on the front of the Intelligent Training System. Patented technology processes this signal in real-time and varies the flames automatically.

How do I recharge the extinguishers?

BullEx SmartExtinguishers are designed to be quickly recharged in the field with compressed air and water.

What happens if I aim at the sensors?

BullEx extinguisher training systems have sensors that determine where the trainee aims and sweeps the SmartExtinguisher. If the trainee aims at the sensors instead of at the base of the fire, the flames will not go out. Instead, the fire returns to its highest intensity.

How many people does it take to transport, set-up and operate a BullEx system?

Just one.

How are the Live-Fire Training Systems Powered?

I.T.S. and I.T.S. Xtreme are powered with a standard 12 volt vehicle cigarette lighter receptacle. The 25 foot power cable provided with your system can plug into any vehicle's 12V receptacle or into a BullEx battery pack.

What fuels the systems?

BullEx live fire systems are fueled by propane. I.T.S. and I.T.S. Xtreme use a standard 20 lb. gas grill propane tank. These are widely available and easy to refill. Over 200 individuals can be trained on a single 20 lb. propane tank.

Can I use a CO2 extinguisher on the live-fire systems?

Both I.T.S. and I.T.S. Xtreme have settings to simulate the behavior of class A, B, and C fires when extinguished with the training extinguisher and have a "Full Flame" setting for use with actual extinguishers. On "Full Flame" the electronic control system will not vary the flames, allowing the systems to be extinguished with a CO2 extinguisher.

How realistic are the live-fire training systems?

The live fire training systems' response to the SmartExtinguisher was developed through scientific analysis of different classes and levels of fire and their reaction to extinguishers. The controller allows an instructor to set the class of fire (A, B, or C) and adjust each with four different levels of difficulty. Companies, fire departments, universities, hospitals, airports, and government agencies internationally are using BullEx systems to train their personnel on the proper use of portable extinguishers.

What safety features do the live-fire systems employ?

An emergency-stop switch on the handheld controller, audible warning tones that sound before flames are ignited, temperature sensors and a motion sensor that shuts down the flames instantly if the system is bumped gives I.T.S. and I.T.S. Xtreme the most safety features of any fire extinguisher training system.

How are HotShot and BullsEye Powered?

HotShot and BullsEye are both powered by rechargeable onboard batteries. A 12-foot power cable is also provided with your system and can be plugged into an external BullEx battery pack to extend the run time of the system.

How realistic is HotShot?

HotShot's response to the SmartExtinguisher was developed through scientific analysis of different classes and levels of fire and their reaction to extinguishers. The HotShot controller allows an instructor to set the class of fire (A, B, or C) and adjust each with four different levels of difficulty. Companies, fire departments, universities, hospitals, airports, and government agencies internationally are using HotShot to train their personnel on the proper use of portable extinguishers.

How realistic is BullsEye?

BullsEye utilizes the same flame control and response technology employed in the HotShot simulators with the added capability of sensing a Laser-Driven training extinguisher as well as a compressed air and water SmartExtinguisher™. This flame control and response technology developed through scientific analysis of different classes and levels of fire and their reaction to extinguishers. The BullsEye controller allows an instructor to set the class of fire (A, B, or C) and adjust each with four different levels of difficulty. Companies, fire departments, universities, hospitals, airports, and government agencies internationally are using BullsEye to train their personnel on the proper use of portable extinguishers.

How does the BullsEye Laser-Driven training extinguisher work?

When the handle is squeezed, the BullsEye Laser-Driven training extinguisher emits a conical laser beam along with the sound of an extinguisher discharging. Sensors on the front of the BullsEye panel detect where the training extinguisher aimed and swept and automatically varies the flames in response.

How do I recharge the BullsEye Laser Extinguishers?

The BullsEye Laser Extinguishers are "recharged" when the hose is placed in the nozzle clip. This resets the extinguisher for the next evolution.
